Routes to the Historic North Oregon Coast
from Portland / Salem & the I-5 Corridor.
The North Coast routes just below will take you to towns from
Astoria, to Lincoln City. Less than a 2 hour drive from Portland
to the North Oregon Coast.
Main routes from Portland, across the North Oregon Coast Range
are.....
The Sunset Highway (U.S Highway 26). Arrive at Seaside, Cannon
Beach area.
The Wilson River Road (State Highway 6). Arrive in Tillamook.
The Salmon River Road (State Highway 18). Arrive in Lincoln City.
Slower routes, often less crowded on weekends......
The Columbia River Highway (U.S. Highway 30).
(State Highways 47 & 202) offer winding roads through the towns of
Mist & Jewell.
Hwy 6 West, off of Hwy 26 will bring you right into Tillamook & Hwy
101
Routes to the Scenic Central Oregon Coast
from the Salem / Eugene Valley Area.
The Central Coast begins 113 miles S. of Astoria in Lincoln City
& continues 77 miles S. to Florence. From Willamette Valley
towns, a half-dozen highways head westward, cutting through the Coast
Range and following rivers to the sea.
Main routes across the Central Oregon Coast Range are.....
The Salmon River Road (State Highway 18). Arrive in Lincoln City.
(State Highway 22) Out of the Salem area. Arrive in Lincoln City.
(U.S. 20) Windy????????????????/ road between the Corvallis / Philomath
area & Newport. Arrive in Newport.
(U.S. 34) South of U.S. 20 between the Corvallis / Philomath area
& Newport.
(U.S. 36) Leads you west from Junction City to Vibrant Old Town Florence.
(U.S. 126) This road will also take you to Florence.
Routes to the Lonely Southern Oregon
Coast, from Eugene to Grants Pass,
along Interstate 5.
The Southern third of Oregon's shore has fewer access highways
across the Coast Range. Accomodations cluster around the major
towns of.... .....Coos Bay, Bandon, Port Orford, Gold Beach,
& Brookings.
Main routes across the Southern Oregon Coast Range are.....
(U.S. 126) Travel west to Florence for 90 minutes from Eugene & I-5.
(State Highway 38) Travel S.W. through Drain. Junction with State
Hwy 138 at Elkton.
(State Highway 138) From Sutherlin & I-5 travel N.W. to Elkton. Reedsport
is only 35 miles west.
(State Highway 42) Take the Winston exit off I-5 to coastal towns
like North Bend, Coos Bay, & Bandon.
(Interstate 199) 90 minutes S.W. of Grants Pass, pass the Oregon-Calif.
border, & to the Hwy. 101 & 199 jct.
Old Growth, California Redwoods greet you along Interstate-199 before
you reach the Hwy 101 junction.
(Interstate 101 N.) Travel north on the Pacific Coast Hwy. to the
Oregon / Calif. border & the town of Harbor.
